Welcome and hello all. Name is Derek Whisenand. This is my site!

I am a freelance, when I have time or usually when people are in a time crunch designer, graphic artist slash student slash full time employee slash flag football superstar!

I work with all types of media including print and web design, advertisement layout, brochure and booklet layout as well as POP (Point of Purchase) signage.

Please feel free to let me know what you think about anything. I am glad to help anyone that needs assistance. Thanks again for taking the time to look at my work.

LATEST CREATION

I work for my family's stoneyard in Fort Worth, Texas. Here I do various tasks and jobs throughout the day. One title I have claimed to my fame is the graphic artist/website designer. I have successfully taught myself various techniques and have trained my eye to see what looks correct and what does not.

Every year at Whiz-Q Stone, we put together a price brochure. The history of the price brochure is that is all started on a dry/erase board and graduated onto colorful 8 1/2" by 17" legal paper. Ther various colors of paper told the sales staff which year the list came from. Since then, we graduated on to using a 36 page 5 1/2" by 8 1/2" booklet type piece. Last year we decided to make the booklet full size up to an 8 1/2" by 11" 48 page. This year we decided to experiment with a different paper type to give the booklet more of a softer feeling, added a thicker cover and then proceeded to increase the size to 53 pages. A lot different from where we began!

In this booklet I had to implement the uses of everyday customer interaction while showing the customer the entirity of what our company has to offer as well as produce a pricing tool for our products. We repeatedly get told how nice the booklet is and whether they can take one home for free or not.
